THCa to THC
DID YOU KNOW? WEED DOESN'T 'WORK' UNLESS YOU HEAT IT UP.
Duh? Right. Well, let's go deeper...
THCa. This is a label we see on most cannabis product packaging. THCa is what weed is before it's lit. And when you put fire to THCa, ie - lighting a joint - it becomes THC!
Don't let the THCa cannabis label confuse you. It's as simple as that!
Labels on packaging show the raw cannabinoid percentages of THC, THCa, CBD, and CBDa.
When THCa and CBDa are heated up, they convert to THC and CBD in a process called decarboxylation.
Our team automatically converts the THCa (non-psychoactive) into THC (psychoactive)
to best represent the True Potential THC available when smoking or dabbing, using an equation. We show only the True Potential THC on our Spark'd menu.
The equation to find the True Potential THC is
(THCa x 0.877) + Original THC = True Potential THC
The photo below is an example of packaging on cannabis flower we sell at Spark'd. Let's plug in the equation to find the true THC percentage...
(31.590 x .877) + 0.581 = 28.29%
This equation does not apply to edible or cartridges as they have already been carefully decarboxylated in the process of filling cartridges/pens or infusing edibles.
